HKIE Engineering Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Professional Certification Scheme
Upon successful completion, learners will be able to possess the EIA knowledge and capabilities, especially on engineering related EIA projects.

EIA Legal and Procedural Framework
Understand the legal framework, procedures, and institutional arrangements of the EIA process in Hong Kong. -
EIA Methodologies and Techniques
Apply EIA methodologies and techniques effectively, including conducting baseline studies, applying engineering knowledge for impact prediction and evaluation, identifying, investigating and developing engineering mitigation measures, and assessing alternatives using tools such as checklists, models, and monitoring plans, making use of the latest digital tools. -
Critical Review and Professional Practice
Critically analyze and evaluate EIA reports and real-world case studies, incorporating principles of public participation, environmental monitoring, cumulative impacts, and sustainable development to inform decision-making and professional practice.
Completion of an environmental related engineering Degree offered by a recognised institution. Corporate members of HKIE in engineering discipline (such as Environmental, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Building Services, Marine, Chemical, Electronic & Electrical).
At least 2 years (24 months) relevant work experience in environmental related fields

This course is the pre-requisite for members of the HKIE seeking certification for Engineering EIA Professional (Eng EIA Pro).
Learners may apply for exemptions for related modules they have completed in their previous studies or course for Eng EIA Coord, while exemption is subject to the courses completed and passed in their previous studies or course for Eng EIA Coord.
