5-G Mesh Network Robot
The Mesh Network Sampling Robot Squad (Sampling Squad) is a multi-terrain sampling robot squad interconnected through a 5G mesh network to carry out pollution investigation in tough environment, for enhancing efficiency and ensuring the safety of investigators. Unlike traditional networks, mesh networks are decentralized. This dynamic setup creates a self-healing and resilient network that can reach areas with obstacles and no existing communication infrastructure. Indeed every single robot can connect with other robots, forming a mesh network sampling robot squad.
In a water pollution case occurred in 2024 in a culvert in Yuen Long with abnormal E-coli level recorded, the “Sampling Squad” was deployed to investigate the case and collected water samples at different strategically chosen locations inside the long culvert with multiple turns to trace the routing of wastewater and the possible pollution source. In the past, without the Sampling Squad, sampling inside the culvert would not be possible.
